Program Note
Paris. Naoufel falls in love with Gabrielle, who works in the library. An anatomy room not too far away. A severed hand decides to search for its body. The hand roams the city with memories and traps, to the tune of musician Dan Levi. And, that terrible incident. Naoufel, the hand, and Gabrielle meet at the end in a very unexpected way. A poetic, surrealistic animation I Lost My Body is the first feature of Jérémy CLAPIN, a free reinvent of Guillaume LAURENT’s novel “Happy Hand”. This unique, poetic, and philosophical animation won both at this year’s Cannes Film Festival Critics’ Week Grand Prix and the Crystal Award at Annecy International Animation Film Festival. Jérémy CLAPIN
In the late 90’s, Jérémy CLAPIN studied animation and illustration at the École des Arts Décoratifs de Paris (Paris decorative arts school). After graduating in 1999, he started working in 2000 as an illustrator and directed his first short film in 2004, Une his- toire vertébrale (A vertebral story), which was very well received in festivals. Jérémy CLAPIN then worked in advertising and in 2012 he made Palmipedarium, in which he chose a way to do animation that is much closer to live action.
