Program Note
Deerskin is my first realism movie. The character and the world surrounding him is very specific. You can walk along the street and meet ‘Georges’ by chance, and anyone can become like Georges. That’s why you’re more nervous and scared.” - Quentin DUPIEUX –
Georges, who bought a used deer skin jumper with a bank account balance of 7,500 euros, arrives at a mountain village with a digital camera in his hand. That evening, Georges meets Denise, an amateur editor who works at a bar, and somehow introduces himself as a film director. His desire to be the only man in a leather jacket soon turns into an obsessive. Georges steals people’s jumpers and runs away under the pretext of filming. To make matters worse, as Denise actively participates in the editing and investment of the film, Georges’ obsession develops into madness.
It’s the essence of creative, heavy, humorous, absurd comedy, like any other piece of Quentin DUPIEUX, known as the musician Mr. Oizo. Oscar-winning actor Jean DUJARDIN plays frantic Georges’ role perfectly. (SEO Seunghee)
