This is a story about rebellion, love, and the search for meaning in a changing world. Living in the multiracial city of Baku, Cezary Baryka greets the coming Bolshevik Revolution with feverish enthusiasm. His enthusiasm is dented after the revolution kills his mother and transforms his friends of different nationalities into enemies. He leaves for Poland. During the journey he dreams of a country where all people are equal and happy. In Warsaw, Szymon Gajowiec, an old friend of his mother′s helps him by encouraging him to take up medical studies... However, in Poland, Cezary sees how the dream stands up against reality. After the war he accompanies his fellow-soldier Hipolit Wieloslawski (whom he had saved) to Nawloc, where the latter has a country estate. The director Filip Bajon says, "This film gives young people the right to rebel."
