Amir, who was recently deported from France to Iran hasn’t found a job yet. He can′t get along well with his father who is disgruntled all the time, but he has no choice but to live in his father′s house together. One day, several bodies are found in the freezing warehouse of the slaughterhouse where his father works, and his father is in a position to be unjustly accused. The son does not know who the real culprit is, but first he helps his father to cover up the bodies. However, he starts to feel special about a victim’s daughter looking for her missing father, and the need to keep secrets becomes more complicated. He tries to change the game in the midst of a dangerous crime. The Slaughterhouse is the third feature film by director Abbas Amini, who has worked on social issues such as war and child labor through fiction and documentaries. (PARK Sungho)

Abbas AMINI
Born in Abadan, the southwestern part of Iran, Abbas Amini started making short films at the age of 13. In 2001, he moved to Tehran, worked as assistant director, and then began making documentary films especially on social and child welfare issues. He also directed a number of shorts and documentaries on social issues and the terrible consequences of the Iran/Iraq war. His debut and Second feature films, Valderama (2016) and Hendi & Hormoz (2018), were both premiered and acclaimed in Berlinale. Amini served as a jury member in the Generation section of Berlinale 2020. The Slaughterhouse (2020) is his third feature film.
