Program Note
The 30-year-old Ah Bee lives a monotonous life with his mother. Just being fired from his office, he enrolls in Tiong Bahru Social Club to organize his life that was not praised by people around him and to pioneer his own future. This place is advertised as a hotspot for people oddly enthusiastic about technology and happiness. In this place, artificial intelligence helps people learn what to do based on big data, and even matches their lovers. After entering the place, he is tasked with taking care of an aunt who terribly cares for cats. He faithfully performs the role he has been assigned to even in the situation in which he is being abused. But as time goes by, he realizes that something is going wrong. Tan Bee Thiam, who has produced numerous award winning films from Singapore, made his solo directorial debut with this social black comedy. (PARK Sungho)
