Program Note
This is the story of couples seeking a second opportunity. The film follows the love and break-ups of three couples in 1972 and 1999. The first couple, Pakorn and Phone, are homosexuals. The second couple, Arunaya and Krung, meet again after thirty years. The last couple is made up of a woman and her fiance’s best friend, with whom she is in love. The names of this couple are not revealed because they are the younger selves of the second couple. The director narrates the stories of these three (or two) couples in an exquisite way. The story of the third couple is told using a combination of theater and movie formats, stemming from the premise that Arunaya’s book is adapted into a play. The director deftly relates three stories with dialogues, which proves the appropriate way to deliver love and consequent pain directly to audience. Therefore, this film may look like a simple love story, but actually it is an experimental work with its unique narrations and themes. (KIM Ji-Seok)
