Program Note
A documentary about Slovakia’s hard road into the European community. A omnibus of stories from all over Slovakia that reflects views on various phenomena. The motivations of the Slovak people, their notions of daily existence and their dreams examined. Central to the film is the subject of poverty, and the unwillingness of Slovaks to live in the present. The film is a reflection of the world, the time and the place we live in, where the feeling of poverty often comes only as result of an inability to step out of what might seem to be a closed circle.
Director
Robert Krichhoff
Born in 1968 in Nitra, Slovak Republic. He majored in documentary films at the Academy of Arts, Bratislava from 1997-2000. He is currently working as a freelance film director. His filmography includes Merry Christmas(1996), Recollection(1997), We Rule the Rain and Wind(1997), Losses and Returns(1998), Black Word(1999), Open Windows(2000), You Are My Sunshine(2000), Guest Against the Grain(2001) and On the Water(2001).
