Doc Square is back!
Launched just last year, Doc Square returns for its second edition as ACFM’s dedicated networking platform connecting Asian documentary creators with industry professionals.
This year’s program will take place from October 10 (Sat) to 13 (Tue) at Doc Square and the Event Rooms in BEXCO Exhibition Center 2. 🏃🏃
☝️ Documentary WIP Showcase
Sixteen Asian documentary projects currently in production will be introduced through individual project pitches.
Presented in collaboration with eight partner organizations from five Asian countries, this year’s showcase also introduces two new awards!
Three projects will receive the IMPACT Asia Award, worth USD 5,000 each, while one project will receive the Newstapa Award, which comes with KRW 10 million and an opportunity for online streaming.

What kind of impact can a documentary have after it leaves the screen? 🔎
The session explores how documentaries can continue to influence audiences and society beyond their screenings through research presentations and panel roundtables built around three case studies:
① Impact Korea – Mapping Impact: Documentary, Movements, and Audiences
② Impact Taiwan – Documentary Film and Social Practice: A Case Study of Small Talk
③ Impact Japan – Festivals, Theaters, Audiences: A Case Study of What Should We Have Done?
Special screenings of the films behind each study will also be held in advance, and an 80-page report compiling the research will be available at the venue. 🧐

Sharing Industry Insights Across Co-Production, Festivals and Funds
Doc Square will also offer industry sessions sharing hands-on experience from across the documentary world.
The Documentary Festival & Fund Talk will bring together documentary film festival programmers and consultants from funding organizations around the world to share insights into Asian documentaries.
The Current State of Documentary Co-Production will take a closer look at opportunities for international co-production, while AND Talk & Share will be held as a private workshop for this year’s projects selected for the ACF Asian Network of Documentary (AND) Fund selections to discuss their production progress.
