Jarda’s family lives in a small border village. His job is to control railway signals. He spends his spare time making models in bottles. He is also a slot machine addict. His wife, Kamila, cleans train station’s public washrooms. The couple’s children kill time with no future vision or job. On the outside, it seems an ordinary life of a quiet village, but you may find a familiar landscape from these people with addiction, empty dreams, and hopeless reality. The repetition of everyday life sometimes brings about crises like the pregnancy of their daughter, Agata. The film climaxes in Christmastime. The father misses railway signals when he is seeking peace of mind, the wife spends time dancing, and their children go through a moment of despair.
