Program Note
2011 ACF Post-production Fund An ′anti-music′ film, [Dangerously Excited] centers on a seventh grade civil servant and a difficult rock band who come together through an unfortunate twist of fate and then develop a special relationship with one another. The director says he was sick of the flood of music films, not quite a genre, all uncritically presenting music from a purely positive light. With this project, he wants to look at music and the industry from a different angle, examining the ‘harm’ that music can cause, as implied by the film’s title. The above comment, however, is merely an excuse. The film is filled with passion and affection for music. The 7th grade civil servant who couldn’t be further away from music gradually develops a love for music and changes himself as the result, from music hater to music lover. The audience doesn’t seem to be that different from the civil servant. The music in the film is too carefully selected, too elegant and charming for it to be an anti-music film. Yoon Jemoon’s interpretation of the civil servant and the amateurish yet refreshing band performance are attention grabbers while cameo appearances by Oh Kwang-rok, Go Chang-seok, and Park Hae-il are a special plus.
