Busan’s representative director JEON Soo-il brings his 8th full feature film. It’s set around ‘Pink’, a shabby bar, to capture and depict in detail several low lives in the director’s characteristic silent style. Even with the still camera and the slow moving plot, the film allows no chance to be bored. Individual characters and their stories call for some curiosity. The relationships between them are tangled and entwined together, and there is a strain of tension between them. The actors make unforgettable, impressive performances. Seo Gap-suk, who returns to the big screen for the first time in over ten years since [Bongja], lives Ok-ryun’s life, the owner of ‘Pink’.Now in her fifties, she brings a selfless, impassioned performance that does not even refuse hair nudity. In the role of autistic Sang-gook, Park Hyun-woo brings a performance that must not have been easy. Mysterious Soojin is played by Lee Seung-yun, who boasts a concentration acquired in her stage roles. Even the smaller roles played by Lee Won-jong and Kang San-eh emit a presence that can’t be ignored. Kang San-eh also brings impressive music in his first try at soundtrack music.
