Program Note
An old bachelor, Hae-Gon is secretly in love with a girl from Yanbian. Hak-Rak likes to talk about his uncle, a veteran of the Vietnam War, whenever he can. Jun-Hyung, a college graduate, mistrusts the national news and watches only CNN. The three all have different pasts, but now share the same profession - they are cab drivers. Their only joys in life are drinking beer at a local pub and exchanging jokes. In the end, the three must do something to escape their shoddy lives. In director Jang Hyun-Su′s new film, the story of these lives is given a new breath of life. Compared to the director′s previous films, which he made using all-star casts, this is very different in that the actors all come from the theater. The title, ′Ray-Ban′symbolizes the men′s helplessness, a shade to hide behind. What will become of these three men with Ray-Ban in the last scene? (Han Sang-Jun)
