Program Note
The Thin Yellow Line is the journey of five men who are hired to paint the median line of a road that connects two towns in Mexico. On board of an old truck, they do the job: more than 200km of pavement and yellow paint that they have to complete in less than fifteen days. Five solitary men that fate got together with the purpose of earning some cash, but without expecting anything, their journey keeps meeting obstacles and eventually change their way of seeing and understanding life. At the end of the road, they′ll acknowledge that there is a thin line between right and wrong; between laughter and crying; between life and death. With the classic symbol of ′road,′ Celso García′s directorial debut tells us about true meaning of life, which is just like a long, single road that we can never expect where it leads us.
