Program Note
A watchmaker Lucio is hopelessly in love with his unstable wife Diana. Being infertile, she is interested in adopting a dog, and becomes close to Standle, who is an expert on it. Standle suggests her to undergo psychotherapy on the reason that she hesitates to willingly choose a dog. But after the theraphy, she looks different from what she used to be. This unique Argentinean film was made inspired by the fact that dogs have unusual relationships with human beings. As dog faces and eyeballs in close ups contain plenty of expressions, it is even believable to say that they took courses on performing. The power of close-ups will be identified again in this film, which was already proven in Don Siegel′s sci-fi classic [Invasion of the Body Snatchers](1956). A more peculiar aspect is that the storyline encounters with the sci-fi classic mentioned above, in that human being′s transformation is boosted as a dominating theme in later part of the film. It will be hard to turn away from dogs′ eyes after watching this film. (RHEE Soue-won)
