Yeon works at at hotel, Ho-Jeong is the daughter of a wealthy businessman and Soon is a graduate student - all are single women facing their 30s. The three gather for a dinner party where the main item on the menu is discussion about sex. Yeon, the conservative, is frustrated that her marriage to her boyfriend has been put on hold; the more liberal Ho-Jeong enjoys a life of promiscuity; Soon has yet to discover the delights of sex. Their opinions about sex and marriage are as diverse as their personalities and backgrounds, and their unabashed discussion reflects the varying mores of contemporary Korean society. The treatment of space and the word play at the dinner table is new to Korean cinema. As a rite-of-passage, sex leaves its mark on each woman, as Yeon works to overcome her anxieties and her boyfriend is seduced by Soon. Ho-Jeong must face up to her actions and take responsibility for sleeping around. Through characters who both conform to and reject the norm, the film tries to remain objective as it exposes the contradictions of marriage and sex.
