How does it feel to watch an album full of old black and white photos? And what do we wait for over the years? Barthes compares this waiting to the whirlpool of suffering caused by something as trivial as waiting for a loved one who is late. Summer: Three fugitives find an old school. At first, they enjoy their isolated life there, but eventually, personalities clash and petty arguments arise and two of the men leave, with only Chang-Do staying behind. Rain: Three graduates of the school gather for the anniversary of a dead classmate. They spend the day in the old school, drinking and reminiscing. After writing graffiti on the blackboard, they leave. Camp: One of the graduates, Joo-Kyung, returns to the school one day and meets Chang-Do. After sharing tea, he presents Joo-Kyung with a lamp made by a friend. Time and space in the three parts of this film are connected by small moments which function on an emotional level rather than as part of a linear narrative. The details of the school′s interior are lit to imbue the entire film with a mood of serenity. A beautiful piece about the trials and tribulations of youth and of our memories of those days which have flown away. (Lee Sang-Yong)
