Program Note
Xiaoli lives in a crowded public housing complex in Shanghai in the late 1980s. His neighbor is the attractive Lanmi, who is married to a sailor who is never around. As Xiaoli gets closer to Lanmi, his hormones awaken, and he gets more than he bargained for.

Haolun Shu
SHU Haolun received a B.E. from East China University of Technology in 1994. He later entered the Master of Fine Arts program in filmmaking at Southern Illinois University, USA, and holds an MFA degree in film. After his return to Shanghai, he founded his own production company, Film Spirit Productions, and directed the award-winning documentary ′Struggle′ which was selected by the prestigious IDFA Festival (Amsterdam) and other film festivals worldwide.His documentary ′Nostalgia′ won the Best Documentary Award at the Reel China Documentary Biennial and selected by Kassel Dokumenta in 2007.
