A horror omnibus film by three different filmmakers from Korea, Hong Kong and Thailand. Korea’s Memories tells the story of a middle class man suffering from hallucinations of his missing wife. Director Kim Jee-woon’s trademark witty humor is replaced by dark and cold images that lead to a surprising ending. Nonzee Nimibutr’s Wheel from Thailand, depicts the conflicts and terror among a puppet theater troupe over a possessed puppet. The storyline is a basic moral tale of good vs. evil, yet the traditional Thai colors give breathtaking pleasure to the screen. Peter Chan’s Going Home from Taiwan adopts conventions of the horror genre to present a tragic tale of a husband and wife both ailing from an incurable disease. A fantasy melodrama rather than horror, this film explores a love that goes beyond death.
