Brothers Boris and Dimitri share a medical practice in Paris, and are equally devoted to their patients and to each other. When they both fall in love with Judith, the single mother of one of their diabetic patients, it throws their previously unshakable relationship into never before seen turmoil. The French screenwriter Axelle Ropert has made a romantic comedy inviting the audience to reflect on life through the love triangle of a beautiful bartender and two brothers. The pace of the film is as natural as the flow of water and the characters’ acting is striking. The warm-hearted brothers treat their patients in a small community of Paris’ 13th arrondissement and their daily life is described with little episodes. Although this film looks very affable at first glance, it also suggests that behind such friendliness lies each character’s deep loneliness. In many scenes, the characters are walking alone so this impression is reinforced. What is worth paying attention to is the director’s delicate work of effortlessly transforming the characters’ love into a reflection on life. (RHEE Soue-won)
