Program Note
The Door is a part of an omnibus film, The Tales of Kish, sponsored by the Bureau of Tourism of Kish Island where there is a famous resort. Nasser Taghvai, Abolfazl Jalili, and Bahram Beyzai participated in its production. In the middle of a desert, an old man walks carrying a door on his back. A postman approaches him and delivers a letter from a young man who loves the old man′s daughter. The old man meets a girl who leads a little black goat, a vagabond troupe, and finally arrives at the sea. He tries to sell the door, his only property, but fails. The old man seems like a man who is incapable of adapting himself to modern society, or rather a man closer to from the nature who refuses the modern society. The images strongly display the surrealistic tendency and Mohammad Ahmadi′s beautiful cinematography supports the tendency and dazzles the eyes. (Kim Ji-Seok)
