When you are young, you believe that by the time you turn thirty, you will be a composed adult, effortlessly navigating whatever life throws your way. But in reality, chocolatier Hana struggles even to make eye contact with others, and Sosuke, heir to a confectionery company, avoids human touch due to mysophobia. Though both fear exposing their own imperfections, a chance encounter over chocolate leads these two hesitant souls, clumsy at forming relationships, into a cautious romance. Their story is one that resonates with the ordinary struggles of today’s youth, who dream of living more meaningful lives. The Japan-Korea coproduction Romantics Anonymous stars Oguri Shun and Han Hyo-joo, with the direction and screenplay also completed through a collaborative effort between talents from the two countries. Akanishi Jin appears as Sosuke′s friend, Hiro, while a Japanese remake of Park Hey Kyoung′s sweet ballad ′Confession′ adorns the ending credits. (Karen PARK)
