Self-reflective films about "making my or our movies" are too common in the independent film industry. In light of reality, it is more than understandable. However, not a few of them fail due to self-pity and depression. We Gon’ Be Alright does not deviate from the kind of self-pity. However, the method is different. We Gon’ Be Alright makes itself a comic subject. In fact, it makes the audience laugh whenever there is a chance. Of course, someone will feel uncomfortable with the young director′s blatant desire for success while watching We Gon’ Be Alright. Or someone would just dismiss it as a lousy. However, the young director and his friends in their late 20s have succeeded in displaying more sophisticated and strategically comic appeal than expected, at least in this movie. This movie is funnier than a mainstream comedy that cost hundreds of millions of dollars.
