Program Note
Harassed by Pyo during high school, Je-hwi becomes a reclusive loner and hides himself from the world. He opens himself up slowly after meeting Jang-hui. But Pyo and his girlfriend Romi appear back in Je-hwi’s life and start harassing him again. Je-hwi uses ithe nternet, his only communication tool, to get help. Byeong-cheol who believes that he has a fatal disease decides to help Je-hwi, and the violence between these three goes way off the limit and it becomes hard to predict the end. Director Yang Hea-hoon remains serene and accurately portrays the various phases of the times, the anonymity that feeble-minded Je-hwi chooses, the cruelty of Pyo and the unexpected people around us like Byeong-cheol. All of them represent a world of contradictions and leaves us to doubt whether this era, or these people, could be saved in the end. (LEE Sang-yong)
