While watching What’s with Love?, one cannot stop but wonder if the lives of the inner-city youth everywhere are the same, whether in Korea, the U.S., or Indonesia. 17-year-old high school student Cinta is a beautiful, smart, and thoughtful girl immersed in her busy life. Her literary skills are such that she wins the poetry award every year. She has a supportive family and also four very close friends. All the boys are infatuated with her. But when a rebel called Rangga enters her life, everything suddenly changes. The result?...just as expected - Cinta falls love. While the film follows all the norms of the youth genre film, it touches on deeper themes while never once loses its emotional tone. (Kang So-won)
