Program Note
Gangsters Mark and Ho are loyal friends. Ho wants to get away from the underworld to support his brother， Kit， who attends the police academy， but suffers from his friend’s betrayal while blaming his brothers for his troubles. Kit realizes his brother’s love and the meaning of friendship and honor after Mark is dead.

John WOO
Raised in Hong Kong, John Woo started his career as an assistant director of Chang Cheh at the Shaw Brothers. He explored various genres since his debut 1973 and finally made a big success with [A Better Tomorrow](1986). With his following films such as Bloodshed of Tow Heroes and Bloodshed in the Streets, he continued to get fame and directed [Hard Target](1993) in USA. He is the first Asian director who successfully makes his way into the mainstream of Hollywood, which is now his main stage.
