A Danish musical based on Mozart’s famous opera buffa [Don Giovanni]. Juan is a successful artist and an infamous playboy. He is full of charisma and sexual charm, and never fails to get the woman he wants, only to dump her in the end. His friend Leporello acts as his henchman helping in his escapades. The movie takes place in Copenhagen, and follows the two men for 24 hours, at times cheerfull, and sometimes tragic. The beautiful flow of the movie, the dramatic narrative, the beautiful images and sound ? in all aspects, the movie makes it hard to believe that it is a debut film. Unlike any common musical, the film expresses even the dialogue with musical melody, making it that much more exiting. In contrast with the suggestive content, the expressiveness of the movie is quite sensuous and at the same time moderately discreet. The familiar music by Mozart adds fun to the film. (JEON Chanil)
