Program Note
Shot in Poland, the film raises existential questions about the nature of life and death in a variation of the story of Cain and Abel. Cain takes Abel′s liver from his almost-dead body, which lies in a public execution spot, putting a potato in its place. Thanks to Abel′s liver, Cain′s family is able to eat after a long time without food. This film features a powerful narrative told through images infused with light. With limited use of dialogue, Liver and Potato recalls the silent era of film. (Lee Sang-Yong)
