Program Note
"Han in hand, the world becomes one/ for an exciting new day/ we will tear down/ that sweet fantasy/ that stands in our way." What is the process by which an individual makes a mark and becomes a historical figure? And how is this different from merely reducing that person into myth? Through an exploration of poet Park No-Hae′s works "At the Dawn of Labor,", "The Rightful Beginning" and "Only People are Our Hope," this film takes a look at the labor movement and the winds of democracy that swept across Korea through the 80s and the 90s. With the titles ′revolutionary′ and ′poet′ attached to his name, Park poses this question to himself: Where do I stand? This is the moment at which the three-legged crow becomes a living myth and is no longer a creature existing only in the imagination. (Lee Sang-Yong)
