Program Note
Throughout history, ancient literature has been explored by various directors. Director Shin Sang-ok made two films based on ancient literature, and both were called [Dream]. The one showcased here is from 1955. It is one of his first films, which is a black and white film that adheres to the original plot. Interestingly, the film embodies the essence of silent films in comparison to other films of the same era, letting the viewers interpret its influence on beginning of Korean films. (LEE Sang-yong)
