Although only one digit in the year has changed, it still feels as though the world has changed. So much so that there is a kind of excitement in the expression ′New Year.′ The film New Year Blues depicts the stories of four couples leading up to the new year: Detective Jiho (Kim Kang-woo), who divorced four years ago, and Hyoyoung (Yoo In-na), a rehab trainer filing for divorce; Jinah (Lee Yeon-hee), who left for Argentina after receiving a breakup notice from her boyfriend, and Jaeheon (Yoo Yeon-seok), who is delivering wine in Argentina; Yongchan (Lee Dong-hwi), the CEO of a travel agency, and his Chinese fiancée, Yao Lin (Chen Du-ling); Raewhan (Yoo Teo), a member of the national snowboarding team at the Paralympics, and Ohwol(Choi Soo-young), a gardener who comforts Raewhan like the sunshine. Following the romcom, Marriage Blue (2013), Director Hong Ji-young has woven a beautiful and lovely cloth with various threads of stories. In addition to familiar and sympathetic developments and warm visuals, the actors′outstanding chemistry adds to the fun to watch. (SONG Kyung-won)
