Program Note
The protagonist of this film is the special club connected to a gallery in Haifa, a city in Israel with little discrimination. In the gallery, a photo exhibition is held under the theme of ‘Political Art,’ while in the club, Israelis and Palestinians mingle with each other. That does not necessarily mean it displays a friendly atmosphere. In the space that seems to be politically free, people reveal the difference and conflict between generations, families, art, gender, culture, and history. Amos Gitai does not hide a complex reality behind a simple interpretation of Middle Eastern problems of religion and race. He is still talking about political issues through art. (LEE Yong Cheol)
