Program Note
The director happens to find out the fact that thousands of North Korean war orphans were sent to the Eastern European during the Korean War, and teachers at a small rural school who cared for the children sent to Poland still remember them. Writing a scenario based on the story, the director decides to meet the teachers in person, and Song Lee, an actress cast the film in preparation accompanies the director. The film, Children Gone to Poland pursues the trace of the children sent to Poland in the early 1950s, spent a short time there and returned to North Korea. It is also about Song, the North Korean defector, and the director’s story. They lived totally different lives in the South and the North, and now try to understand each other′s differences and heal the wounds. The movie is based on a great love of humanity that transcends time and nationality. (Huh Kyoung)
