Program Note
An impressive feature debut of Korean?Chinese director Guang Hao Jin. The film describes a man’s life who lives a divine punishment both physically and mentally. Zezhu loses both of his arms and lives alone in a mountain. He meets Xiangshu, a mute woman who ran away to the mountain, and finds comfort living with her. However, he still suffers from the guilt of leaving his mother’s death uncared for. Director Guang Hao Jin sustains a concise and understated film style and emphasizes Zezhu’s point of view in leading the story of the film. This humble style works efficiently to express the psychological conflict and agony of Zezhu, with the performances of the non-actor characters working into it as well. Life Track is a Korean Film Commission’s grant program selection for Korean filmmakers abroad. This project has also received support in post production funding, provided by the Asian Cinema Fund of the Pusan International Film Festival. (Kim Ji-suk)
