First we meet Luis Yong, a doctor in Lima who revitalized a run-down restaurant. Born in Peru, Yong is an iconic minor celebrity in Lima′s barrio chino. Lee Ho Shau fled China during the Cultural Revolution and made his way to Sao Paolo, Brazil. Lee′s life as a Chinese-Brazilian entails celebrating Brazil′s futebol championship with the rest of the city. Foo-Ching Chiang relocated to Buenos Aires over 40 years earlier and has been bridging Argentinean and Chinese culture for most of that time as the Spring Roll King. These stories illustrate the difficulty in defining Chinese in the modern world, and how strong the drive is to find passion in life wherever one calls home.
