Jang Sun-Woo was at the forefront of the New Wave movement in the 1980s. Although he suffered from political oppression and systematic censorship, his films received critical acclaim for their unrelenting portrayal of social ills. In this documentary, British critic Tony Rayns describes the director′s films using such key terms as ′hair, eye, truth, and new world′. The majority of the film contains the Jang′s honest confessions. Togther, his thoughts as well as interviews with other prominent people working in the industry offer us a chance to understand the man and his films. In the documentary, the director explains that he found a new understanding of Korean society while filming The Road to the Racetrack and his vision for a new world from the making of Passage to Buddha.
