Program Note
A Fountain for Susan is a romantic musical comedy set against the background of the African wilderness and the beauty of Victoria Falls. Susan arrives in the small African village of Bantumbe posing as the wife of her African friend Ibrahim, who lives in Europe. She wants to help him get out of his planned marriage to his fiance, who was betrothed to him when they were still children. As is the case in most comedies and life, everything turns out differently. To Ibrahim′s surprise Nene has grown up into an attractive young woman. In Bantumbe Susan meets the love of her life - the appealing young reporter Michael, who is writing an article about village′s renowned sculptresses. They have developed their talent thanks to a special teacher - the ltalian sculptor Baba Leo. Entwined in the story are the two African orphans Bamule and Tioutriou and lost baby elephant. Michael, the children and Africa change Susan′s life for once and for all.
