Twelve-year-old Ali hangs out with three friends to help the family. For survival, he does not hesitate to commit petty crimes. One day, driven by fate, Ali starts to believe that there is a hidden treasure in the basement, and he gathers friends to find it. Then, they enter a school, which is run by a charity organization to educate children on the street and to prevent child labor. However, Ali has a different purpose. This is because he believes that there is a tunnel in the basement of the school that leads to the place of treasure. Sun Children is the latest film by master filmmaker Majid Majidi, who is well-known for Children of Heaven (1996). The excavation of the protagonist who won the Marcello Mastroianni Award for the best young actor at the Venice International Film Festival is particularly noticeable. (PARK Sungho)
