Paolo Sorrentino, the celebrated Italian film director and screenwriter the world is paying attention to, was born in Naples in 1970. His first full feature film One Man Up (2001) was selected for the Venice Film Festival. He also was nominated David di Donatello Awards for Best New Director. Afterward, with The Consequences of Love (2004), he was invited to the competition at the Cannes Film Festival, winning 5 awards at the David di Donatello Awards. With Il Divo (2008), he won the Jury Prize at Cannes, and with The Great Beauty (2013), he won the Academy Award, the Golden Globe, and the BAFTA Award for Best Foreign Language Film, as well as three EFA Awards in 2014. The director, who completed his own world of works based on philosophical stories and artistic mise en scène, directed This Must Be the Place (2011), Rio, I Love You (2014), Youth (2015), and Loro (2018).
