Program Note

Many will agree that turmoil in American society is increasing after Trump took office. The Fight focuses on the battle by lawyers from the American Civil Liberties Union that showcase concrete examples of the turmoil in America. They have fierce debates in court with right-wing organizations over the legalization of abortion, transgender rights, refugees, and civil rights issues. The bare faces of the American far-right, represented by Trump, are revealed during the course of the legal battle. The audience soon realizes that the issues raised in the film are not just of American politics, but of a dark reality that aﬀects everyone. (KIM Bo-nyun)

Elyse STEINBERG

Elyse Steinberg is a producer and director of “The Trial of Saddam Hussein” (2008), the TV documentary series America at a Crossroads, and Couples Therapy (2019), a reality TV series. She won the Sundance Grand Jury Prize for her first feature documentary, Weiner (2016), she played as a screenwriter, director, and producer in collaboration with Josh Kriegman.

Josh KRIEGMAN

Josh Kriegman worked as a producer and director in reality TV series Made (2010-2011), Couples Therapy (2019), and the TV series Need to Know (2012), the current affair shows. He won the Sundance Grand Jury Prize for his first feature documentary, Weiner (2016), he played as a screenwriter, director, and producer in collaboration with Elyse Steinberg.

Eli DESPRES

Since his feature debut, Wilderness Survival for Girls (2004), Eli Despres has mainly worked as a documentary writer and editor. He participated in the reality TV series Couples Therapy (2019) as an editor, director, and producer. He co-wrote and edited Weiner (2016), the winner of the Sundance Grand Jury Prize.
