After a series of troubles, middle-aged alcoholic Roque gets kicked out of his parents’ house and retreats into the Amazon jungle. Roque is desperate to sober up and get a grip on his life, but his desire for self-redemption is threatened when he is lured into illegal goldmining with an indigenous tribe. </p>Like his previous work Le Soledad, Jorge Thielen Armand blurs the line between reality and fiction in La Fortaleza. The film is loosely based on the auto-biographical story of the director and his father (who plays the protagonist), but instead of focusing on the plot, the director chooses to concentrate on portraying the character’s inner battle through hypnagogic images and fitful outbursts of raw emotions.
