Inès is an expectant mother and a professional photographer in the midst of finalizing a photographic album of her father. The project, related to the memories of her childhood, always brings her back to the same place: her family home in southern Argentina and her father before he disappeared. This film is based on the autobiographic book by Guadalupe Gaona, which focuses on the sense of loss of her father, who disappeared during the civilian-military dictatorship in Argentina in March 1976. The director followed two principles: use verified, actual resources to keep the spirit of the original text and use memory, an outcome of imagination and recollection. Inès, the protagonist, is obsessively attached to her father’s absence. In final stages of completing the album she comes into conflict with both her lover and mother. The film oscillates between her present and past, shedding light on issues of an individual within history. Nevertheless, personal memory and family history protrude over history and politics. This is a second feature of the promising Argentinian director Milagros Mumenthaler, where the image of the green car floating on the lake symbolizes protagonist’s contemplative mind. (RHEE Souewon)
