Program Note
Invaded by memories of war and uprooted by armed conflict, Alice tries to reshape her life in La Sirga, a decadent hostel in the highlands of the Andes. There, she will try to settle down, but her fears and the threat of war resurface. The Towrope, William Vega’s debut feature, entails a committed political perspective on the Colombian armed conflict in a distant and rational style. It is not only a film about a person and their conflicts with the outside world, it is also about how a person relates to a physical and human geography and how they modify it.
