The Iranian master filmmaker Majid Majidi’s epic drama about the prophet Muhammad, from the time of his birth until the age of thirteen. This film is the first part of a trilogy planned to depict the life of Muhammad. With the highest budget ever allotted for a film in Iran, it took a total of seven years to complete and included the input of such amazing talents as Vittorio Storaro, the Italian master cinematographer, and A. R. Rahman, the best Indian soundtrack musician. In the sixth century AD, the Arabian peninsula has become a main route for merchants. Mecca, which is at the center of the trading route, grows in size through the development of commerce and finance. However, various races, languages, and religions begin to challenge established order and religious precepts. In this era, a new prophet, Muhammad, is born. Orphaned at birth, he is raised by his uncle. As he grows older, more and more people recognize him as the Holy Prophet. (PARK Sungho)
