Sebastian, a chef, hears that his mother is sick and returns to his Peruvian hometown after nine years. While nursing his mother, he finds out that his ex-girlfriend from nine years before had given birth to his son. His encounter with her brings back past emotions which he thought were finished with and buzz starts coming around the whole village when Sebastian’s husband Josh pays him a visit. Sebastian is a drama dealing with prejudice of the conservative community against homosexuals. Sebastian’s sexual orientation, which is not accepted by his family and community, is met by intimate relationship with his ex-girlfriend, son and mother, and various social forces in the Peruvian culture that pressure him to internalize his pain. The film is based on the director’s personal experience and incorporates the classic theme of queer cinema. (Jin PARK)
