Program Note
Aaron comes across a cryptic online ad: "$1,000 for the day. Filming service. Discretion is appreciated." Low on cash, he travels to a remote mountain town where he meets Josef, his cinematic subject for the day. Josef is sincere and the project seems heartfelt, so Aaron begins to film. But as the day goes on, it becomes clear that Josef may not be who he says. Whenever I watch American low-budget genre films like Creep, I feel that the true power source of Hollywood is independent filmmakers like Patrick Brice. It doesn’t have flamboyant special effects or very hot Hollywood celebrities, but still has many other elements for the audience to like it very much. Meticulous and very neat direction and hilariously realistic and sympathetic characters will capture the attention of the audience instantly. It is definitely enviable that America has lots of filmmakers and actors like them. (Dosin PAK)
