Program Note
This is a teen movie about a teenager who experiences the death of a loved one. Sameer and Nachiket are relatives and friends. Nachiket, who is more mature, wants to escape his stifling surroundings. Sameer does not understand this. Then one day, Nachiket drowns in a pool where they often swam together. His death takes over Sameer’s life, as he becomes lost in the fear and meaning of death. No one comes to his help. He must search to learn the meaning of life, however vaguely, on his own. Sameer and Nachiket are completely opposites and still complement each other. Strong and weak, manly and feminie, independent and dependent personalities; yet they are not perfect. As Director Umesh Vinayak Kulkarni mentions, Sameer, is vulnerable, but is grasping the meaning of life little by little. And through this film, the director remembers his friend Nachiket, whom he wanted to resemble.
