Program Note
A lyrical documentary that introduces the ordinary lives of people in Mongolia through poetry and song. The world is changing too rapidly to catch up with, and people who have lost imagination in the harsh life don′t dream any more. But Poets of Mongolia lets us know that there are still the ones singing their lives and reciting their poetry. They worship nature, think about destiny with a disinterested attitude, have impossible dreams in their hearts, and sing about the satisfaction of their lives. Their poetry serves as beautiful weapons enabling them to adapt to changing times. To some, this film might seem to say nothing. The camera merely shows without saying anything, the narration of the people doesn′t match with the images on screen, and the loose rhythm enables the audiences to imagine and think in their own ways. This philosophical essay full of metaphors becomes a poem in itself. (Kwon Yong-Min)
