Philippine’s action star Fernando Poe Jr. directs and acts in this traditional Western film. As Philippine is known for its flexibility accepting occidental culture, the film accommodates Western elements in the film without much variation. Two men are after a villain yet their purposes differ as one of them seeks revenge and the other justice. Their conflict causes them fist fight, gunfight, then a competition over a same woman and finally forms a friendship. The film focuses on the quarrel of two men rather than common enemy or the social situation, simplifying the plot while the spectacles are emphasized. The film is filled with wholesome action scenes such as fistfights in bars and in puddles and battle fought in pursuit on horses on a vast plain. (CHO Young-jung)
