L′Ecole de la Chair is the story of a love affair, and a love affair can mean many different things but it is attached to a strong sexual bond, be it be faced up to or avoided. Dominique and Quentin each learn at a certain cost to them, I believe, that the sexual bond is the best way to separate two people. It takes time to learn that and once the lesson has been learned it is quickly forgotten, fortunately since I don′t see how else it could continue to work. That′s what "the school of flesh" is all about and I believe that′s what the film explains. But what interests me the most is to create characters so that they can be personified faithfully, making them unquestionable. ¡′ Benoit Jacquot
