Isa, a twenty-year-old vagabond, travels around the world with a backpack as big as her body and earns a living by selling handmade card on the streets. Liberated from concerns such as money and societal rules, she observes the world with wide-eyed curiosity. One morning Isa arrives in Lille, a gloomy city located in the north of France where a man convinces her that she has "obligations" to be a laborer. Isa starts work at a textile factory where she meets the sensitive and rebellious Marie, who hides behind frosty blonde hair. Although both are the same age, Marie′s world views are opposite to Isa′s optimistic ones. Magnetized to each other, the two young women become roommates in a house whose owner is absent. As their lives unfold, a story of happiness along with despair is woven by their desires to escape reality. The superb performances lends strong realism to this story about the joys and sorrows that humble souls encounter. (K. Jin Yoon)
